ENGAGEMENT PREP GUIDE
ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY IN GAINESVILLE, GA & SURROUNDING AREAS
SET THE DATE, TIME & LOCATION
Your engagement photography session can be scheduled any time before your wedding day. I normally suggest booking it at least 3-6 months in advance to avoid stress. As you start to plan for your engagement shoot, you will need to start brainstorming about location ideas. I LOVE it when couples pick a location that is special or sentimental to them in some way!
If you can’t think of anywhere specific that you would like to shoot, I can help you decide on a location. If the light is great, I can make ANY location look awesome! I always shoot my engagement sessions around sunrise or sunset to ensure we get that beautiful, glowy light! Engagement sessions typically start between 5-7pm depending on the light and the time of the year. In the winter months, 3-5pm is a normal time frame for an engagement shoot!
STYLING TIPS:
What to Wear:
-
Buttoned shirt and regular jeans
-
Long, flowy, or form-fitting dress: dress or a summer maxi dress
-
Don't forget accessories, jewelry, scarfs, hat, etc...
-
White/Black/Pastels/ Neutrals/Grey, any natural solid color shirt and classic pants or jeans (for significant other/husband)
-
Strapless nude color bra and underwear:
-
AVOID clothing with multiple patterns or large logos since it will become a distraction. Strong prints and abstract patterns/plaids and textured clothing can overpower your photo.
-
Children should be dressed in the same color palate or complimentary colors

Hair & Makeup: Your engagement session is the perfect time to test out your wedding day look! Maybe you could do a hair and makeup trial with your hair and makeup artists before your wedding day, so why not get all glammed up for your engagement photos? Not hiring someone for hair and makeup? No worries just do your hair and makeup as usual. *Keep in mind I do not correct grey, fly aways, roots, etc for hair in photoshop.

I recommend that you do not get a spray tan up to a week before your session. It tends to photograph orange even when it’s applied subtly and by a professional.

Having your nails done makes a big difference for your photos! It will help you to feel confident and beautiful and allows me to capture some amazing close-ups of the rings.

Make sure you get your ring cleaned so it shines and sparkles for close-ups!
